Requirements

Must have graduated the 8th Grade
Must be at least 14 years old and no older than 20 years old

Must be willing to regularly attend Post Meetings, Details and other Functions

Have good moral character
Remain in school while in the program or until graduation
Maintain a "C" average or higher
Successful completion of a background check
Take and pass a written exam and interview
Be willing to commit to the Explorer code and exemplify the professional image of the Egg Harbor Twp Police Department

Residency in EHT is not required and many of our Explorers come from all over Atlantic County

Due to the sensitive nature of law enforcement operations, Law Enforcement Explorer Posts have additional requirements including the successful completion of a background check (no prior arrest record or serious traffic violations), passing an oral interview, maintaining a minimum grade point average, being a person of good conduct and high moral character, being physically fit, etc.


Explorer Advisors make a determination on acceptance or non-acceptance to the program


How To Join

Follow these steps to apply:


1. Click on this link for a Post Application and print it out

     

2. Bring the completed application to the EHT Police Department in an envelope labeled:

"Sgt. Joe Griffiths - Explorer Application" written on the front of the envelope


4. You will be contacted with the date and location of the next recruitment night: Recruitment nights are usually once every 3 months and the first Monday night of that month
